This year’s Skate to End Alzheimer’s Hockey Tournament will be 3 on 3 with goalies. This one day event will be held at the Grover Ice Arena on Saturday, October 19th. There will be twelve teams (six in each division) competing for the cup and bragging rights! Each team is guaranteed three games and the Champions will be determined by the team with the most points in each division.
The tournament rules will be as follows:
1. Each team will consist of 7 skaters and 1 goalie.
2. Each game will be played on half ice divided by dasher boards and net on center ice red line. There will be two goals set up on each side. One side will be a faster skate with the other side being a slower skate.
3. All skaters will sign up online and pay $50 (donated to the Alzheimer’s Association) and teams will be chosen by the tournament organizers.
4. There will be scorekeepers to keep track of the score and team points.
5. The games will be 30 minutes continuous clock.
6. We want to keep penalties at a minimum, but if a penalty occurs the offending player must go off the ice for one shift and the opposing team will get a penalty shot.
7. Play will stop on penalties, goal score or goalie stoppage. Play will resume from the point of stoppage.
8. Have Fun … Skate for a Cure!
